Capricorne Foundation

This project is a private initiative of great fans of Capricorne's work, who want to ensure that his work is well-preserved as part of our cultural heritage. Capricorne's work deals with universal themes of the modern era, however, always in connection with Curaçao's local folktale. It is a battle against "empathic emptiness", showing how the artist strives for independence in a world that lost touch with its roots. We believe that Capricorne's work is a great contribution to the art history education of the Netherlands Antilles, especially Curaçao. With the Capricorne Foundation we will strive for:

1. The preservation of Capricorne's oeuvre,
2. Support activities that will make the work more transparent and accessible for a broader public,
3. Study and identify other artists that contribute to the same cause,
4. Identify an artistic movement/stream of common themes,
5. Support academic work contributing to these themes.
