Exhibition José en Nilka in Gallery En Passant

José Maria Capricorne and his daughter Nilka Capricorne are showing their works in Gallery En Passant (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands) from 2nd to 30th may 2010. The exhibition is titled 'ODE AAN DE WONDERBOOM' ('A TRIBUTE TO THE MIRACLE TREE') . The paintings section of this site has been updated with some of the painings that will be shown in En Passant. Gallery En Passant is located at the Lupineweg 17 in Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. Its opening hours are: daily from 17:00 till 19:00, and on Sundays from 13:00 till 18:00. Exhibition José en Nilka in Gallery Alma Blou and article in Amigoe

José Maria Capricorne and his daughter Nilka Capricorne are showing their works in Gallery Alma Blou in Curaçao. The exhibition will last till June 30th, 2009. This exhibition was a reason to write an article titled 'Boodschappers met passie' (transl.: 'Messengers with passion') in the newspaper Amigoe. This article appeared in the May 23rd, 2009 edition of the paper. A link to the article can be found here (in Dutch). Exhibition at Powerstation Art Amsterdam

An exhibition of works of José Maria Capricorne and Tschalê Figueira will be held at the Powerstaion Art event in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This event will take place on November 3rd & 4th, 2007. Capricorne exposition Galerie De Leeuw

In connection with the 'Koninkrijksspelen' (Kingdom Games) an exhibition has been organized in Galerie De Leeuw. Works of art of José Maria Capricorne, Nelson Carrilho and Gustave Nouel will be on display. The exposition can be visited on working days from 9:00 till 20:00, and will last till 12th August 2007. Galerie De Leeuw is the exhibition space of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Kingdom Relations.

Capricorne exposition Galerie Artitude

From Sunday April 22nd - Sunday June 3rd there is a unique exposition in Galerie Artitude in Nijmegen: "Alegria", 6 top artists from the Caribbean under one roof. Works of Nelson Carrilho, José Flores, José Maria Capricorne, Herman van Bergen, Tony Monsanto and Ria Houwen will be on display. During the exposition period the gallery will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 13:00 till 17:00, and by appointment.

Capricorne exhibition at the Tropentheater

Well, it took a bit longer than anticipated, due to some unforseen events, but the next version of the site is finally completed. Appart from some minor corrections and additions to the site, there is a new logo and the site has been translated to Dutch. Unfortunately I have not finished transforming and resizing the brand new scans of more works of art to suitable dimensions yet. But development will continue, so, besides more works of art, expect other things to change in the near future.

Welcome to the first version of this site. Our intention is to continually develop and add material to it. As this is the first version there still may be some inconsistencies, spelling and grammar errors, or other issues with it. Please let us know if you encounter any problems or if you have any suggestions. Our contact info can be found in the disclaimer section.
An overview of changes that are coming very soon:

Presentation by Ineke Phaf-Rheinberger

Ineke will be giving a presentation on Capricorne's relationship with environmental planning and visual art since the 1960s. The planning of Brasilia in Brazil and New Babylon, the art project by Constant, have had a remarkable influence on José's painting visions.
